Kitchen Design

The kitchen area in the apartment is an approximately 10m2 area in the southwest corner of the main room. It's north border is formed by the drywall of the guest bathroom, with which it shares the main wet wall, which is the west wall in this room.

The angle of the drywall on the north to the concrete wall on the west turned out to be slightly greater than 90 degrees, so a large shim had to be built to hang the cabinets on and remain true to the design.

The island, shown here off to the right of the design, provides additional cabinet space and counterspace. It will be positioned kitty-corner to the other cabinets, at a right angle to the east wall of the main room, with its cabinet doors facing westward into the kitchen. The back of it will provide seating for two. It also will have an electrical outlet on its side, for using kitchen appliances on top of the counter without stringing a cord over to a wall. The wiring for this was embedded in the concrete floor before the kitchen tile was laid.
