Halo 2 Trailer Released - Category: (halo 2 / xbox / media)

The Halo 2 Trailer is finally out, and we've got it right here at Rampancy. It's available in two QuickTime 6 versions: a large, 27 Mb file and a smaller 17 Mb version.

They are optimized for playback under QT6 on OS X. They should play under other software versions (OS 9, QT 5) but in this environment there may be problems with full screen playback (so-called "present" mode).

Physical Russian states his case

By KEN WARREN

The Ottawa Citizen

Anton Volchenkov used his body to make a positive first impression at the opening of the Ottawa Senators rookie camp at the Corel Centre yesterday evening.

Volchenkov, the 20-year-old Russian defenceman who was selected by the Senators in the first round of the 2000 NHL entry draft (21st overall), drew the notice of the coaching staff with his aggressive play during the first practice session.

Nazarbaev Claims "Third Force" at Work

Kazak president believes the beating of a prominent opposition journalist was designed to discredit him.
By Arkhat Ashmetov in Almaty (RCA No. 142, 30-Aug-02)
An attack on the well-known journalist and opposition activist this week has drawn widespread condemnation from both inside and outside the country.
Robert Menard, secretary-general of the press group Reporters Without Borders, said the country was becoming more and more dangerous for independent journalists who criticise President Nursultan Nazarbaev or any aspect of his regime.

Dream Two

We're both part of some student tour coming back from someplace. But for some reason, we were on different parts of the trip. So I haven't seen you in a few days. Groups of people are getting on a bus and milling into a cafeteria for dinner as one big group.

I follow you but you don't see me. You turn around, recognize me, and give me a small kiss on the cheek. With several others we sit down at a cafeteria table.

Dream One

I walk through the front door of my house in Andover and into what should be the dining room, but used to to be the living room. My father is sitting on our old couch, facing the built-in china closet (long ago turned into a door to a basement stairwell) where the television used to sit.

An old television is sitting on a low coffee table in front of him. But it's facing the wrong way. He gestures to the spot on the couch next to me. I sit down.

Photos, Movies From France Trip

The photos page has been reorganized by location: there are now pages for Kazakhstan as well as a new page for France. The France page has photos on it from the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, and the Louvre.

Work Work Work, Vacation

Just to let everyone know I'll be essentially out of touch except via my mobile from the 4th until the 14th. I'm going to visit Germany and France on vacation. See the travel page for details.

Aside from that, our web studio division just completed its first major project, the official web site for the Foreign Investors' Council of Kazakhstan. It went online as of Monday evening Almaty time, and I am told the President himself will be viewing a demonstration of it in Astana on the 5th.

Business and Personal, June 2002

OK, it's been a while since I updated the page, I know.

The recently launched "Ducat" brand is doing pretty well here so far. We had a booth at the KITEL technology exhibition here and won several awards. The prepaid internet calling card project is moving out of the test phase and into real production, while at the same time we reduce our costs and start to advertise our services; the first radio and television ads for Ducat have been airing the past two weeks, and people are starting to recognize us.

Don't Ask Me Why...

...but I now have a webcam.
