It Came From The 80s

I hardly ever do these blog meme things, but since I liked this one when I saw it on Heptarch's blog, I figure'd I'd do it. He got it from jenderelly.

1. How old were you in 1980?
Nine. 1980 was also notable as the birth year of my younger sister.

2. How old were you in 1989?
Eighteen. This was my senior year in high school; I turned eighteen that October.

3. Were you a Toys R' US Kid?
No way. The familial relations of giraffes, however cutely stylized, did not inspire me to purchase toys. I was a Child World fan. Pandas > Giraffes.

4. Did you watch Transformers?
Yes, although at the time I was starting to think to myself that it wasn't that good, a feeling which had eluded me regarding previous shows in a similar vein, like Force Five and Battle of the Planets. Star Blazers was good.

5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen?
Yes; our maternal grandmother took us to see it. At home we didn't have videocassettes at that time, so we soothed the craving for watching it over and over by borrowing a soundtrack album with story narration by Michael Jackson from the public library and playing it over and over.

I can't really believe I just admitted that.

6. Did you own a Lite Bright?
At least one. I think the last one in the house belonged to my sister, but I think it was not an actual Lite Brite but an imitator.

7. Who is your Favorite Golden Girl?
Never watched the show voluntarily.

8. When someone says "Who you gonna call?"
I like this plan. I'm excited to be a part of it. Let's do it!

9.What was your favorite toy(s)?
Simon.

10. Did you have a Pogo Ball?
Nope.

11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block?
Nope.

12. What New Kid did you have a crush on?
No no NO.

13. Did you play M.A.S.H?
Watched it, yet. Played it? Not so much. Imitating Star Wars and Star Trek were more common.

14. Did you watch The Care Bears?
Again, not voluntarily.

15. Did you have Jelly bracelets?
My sister did.

16. Did you have a charm necklace and/or bracelet?
No. I'm detecting a trend here.

17. Did you have a Glo Worm?
Nope.

18. Did you ever own a slap bracelet?
What is a slap bracelet?

19. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles?
Breakfast Club. And the real hotness was Ally Sheedy. Molly Ringwald? Feh. Never actually seen Sixteen Candles.

20. Did you have a crazy hair style?
Not in the 80s, no.

21. What was your first bike?
Black and chrome BMX bike... from Sears. Oh, the shame. The shame!

22. Name one thing you still own from your childhood...
The Atari 2600 died a long time ago, but there's a working Commodore Amiga 500 someplace. I think the Commodore 64s all burned their power supplies before too long.

23. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid?
Nope.

24. Did you dress like Madonna?
Not in public.

25. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake?
Strawberry shortcake, if forced to choose.

26. Did you watch Miami Vice?
From time to time. Never really got into it.

27. Did you own a pair of Jelly Shoes?
No, my sister did and I had girlfriends who did.

28. Did you own a Trapper Keeper?
Until I upgraded to Five Star, yes.

29. Atari or Nintendo?
This is a trick question. The real question is Atari or Intellivision.

30. Did you play Pac-Man?
Yes, but the real game to play was Missile Command. Or Centipede.

31. Which was better: Jem and the Holograms or Barbie and the Rockers?
Ugh. What a choice! Jem.

32. He-Man or She-Ra?
Can I put in Thundercats as a write-in?

33. What movie scared you the most?
The Exorcist. Linda Blair's head spun around, spouted pea soup, and I stopped sleeping for months.

34. Did you try to dance like Michael Jackson?
Regretfully, yes. At family functions.

35. What Is The First Thing That Comes To Mind When You Hear "Flux Capacitor"?
It is what makes time travel possible. If you have enough gigawatts.

36. What other colors did Pepsi come in?
What's Pepsi?

37. Roger Rabbit Or Howard The Duck?
Roger Rabbit.

38. Did you ever beg your parents to have your school picture taken with the 'Laser" background?
I do not recall that, Senator.

39. Do you know what the Ninja Rap is?
No, and I'm probably glad I don't.

40. Do you know why people cringe when they hear the word BUCKNER?
Yes; and although I'm from the Boston area, I'm too smart to have been a Red Sox fan. These days being a Red Sox fan is easy.

41. Can you name the family members from the National Lampoons Vacation movies?
No. Another popular trend I never really got into.

42. Wally-World or Europe?
Europe. Better women.

43. Did you have pump sneakers?
Nope. Too expensive.

44. Did you own hyper color shirts?
What?

45. Did you watch Smurfs?
Oh yes indeed.

46. What was your favorite movie from the 80's?
Wow. That's tough. Empire Strikes Back. Or Wrath of Khan.

47. Will you repost this to any of your friends that were in the 80's?
Sure will.

If I knew where any of them were...
